POPULAR BATHROOM COUNTERTOPS

The Basics on Popular Bathroom Countertops

One of the decisions you will have to make, while remodeling your bathroom is the type of countertop surface that will feature in the space. There are several counter surfaces to choose from. And decision-making may be difficult if you do not have the right information. Lucky for you, Bull Run Kitchen and Bath has prepared this guide to help you in arriving at the right decision.

Solid Surface Countertops

Solid surfaces are made from broken stone and acrylic, and they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Homeowners that are leaning towards a contemporary bathroom style will find this type of countertop more than appealing.

The main advantage of these types of surfaces is that they are highly durable. In addition, some streaked versions of the surface can appear to be natural stone, which will enhance the appeal of the bathroom. Furthermore, this type of surface is stain and water resistant, making the maintenance of the surface much easier.

Disadvantages of such countertops include the fact that a professional has to install them, which can lead to additional costs. In addition, scratches can be highly visible on these tops especially if the tops are of a dark hue.

Quartz countertops

Quartz is an extremely popular bathroom countertop material, and nearly every stone contains some quartz element. It is usually preferred to granite because there is no additional cost of sealing when it comes to the former material. In addition, it does not stain, and is resistant to both bacteria and moisture.

However, quartz has some disadvantages as well, just like any other countertop material. For instance, quartz can be very costly, and in some stores can be costly  as high-end marble or granite. Furthermore, fingerprints are highly visible on quartz countertops forcing you to regularly clean the top to remove such smudges.
