Joy Hay was ready to walk away. When she and her husband Corey first saw the house they were considering in Woodbridge, Virginia, the kitchen and bathrooms were so outdated that she wasn't sure she could commit to living there. The home had a lot going for it — great location, good schools, a pool the kids would love, proximity to the water — but the interiors were a serious obstacle. Corey convinced her that with the right renovation team, the home could become everything they wanted. He was right. And Bull Run Kitchen & Bath was that team.

This Woodbridge kitchen remodeling project — along with the accompanying bathroom renovation — was the key to unlocking the full potential of the Hay family's new home. Joy and Corey were so motivated to get started that Joy sent her first email to Bull Run Kitchen & Bath two weeks before the family even moved in. She knew that with everyone eager to renovate during the COVID-19 period, getting on the schedule early was essential. When designer Hakan and his colleague Assan came out for the initial consultation, the Hays immediately understood what set Bull Run apart. Hakan and Assan walked through the space suggesting possibilities, identifying opportunities the homeowners hadn't considered, and showing genuine enthusiasm for what the kitchen and bathrooms could become.
"What attracted us to Bull Run was the moment Hakan and Assan showed up — they started with ideas of what they could do," Joy said. "The ideas were pretty much on board with what we wanted to begin with. And things we didn't even think of — it was like, 'Oh, we can do this?' I had no idea we could do that."

Design & Materials:
- A full kitchen renovation with new cabinetry, countertops, and appliances
- Bathroom renovation with updated tile, vanity, fixtures, and finishes
- Thoughtful design suggestions that expanded the homeowners' vision beyond what they had originally conceived
- Coordinated materials selection ensuring the kitchen and bathroom worked together as part of a cohesive whole

The Transformation Process:
"When they came in it was like this whole sheet of protective covering over everything so it wouldn't touch our furniture in the bedroom," Joy recalled. "There wasn't a lot of dust, there wasn't a lot of things getting dirty. The workers were very good."
The team was also consistently respectful of the family's time and space — arriving and leaving at appropriate hours, communicating ahead of time if anything changed, and always asking before making decisions that could affect the homeowners.
"They were always mindful of their workspace — made sure they cleaned up after they finished. When they showed up they put the tarps up, they covered everything, wiped down anything that might have gotten a little dust on it. They were always respectful of our space."
What Our Clients Said
Joy and Corey were effusive and specific in their praise:
"Oh, I would definitely recommend Bull Run to my family and friends — actually, we already have. We've been showing photos and videos of the kitchen and the bathroom, and people are already asking, 'Who did the work? Who did your kitchen? Who did your bathroom?' So we're already sending them the websites and the phone numbers."
"With the kitchen and our bathroom, we definitely feel more at home. They've done an amazing job."
"We will be using them again for sure — we definitely have other projects within the home."
That last detail is significant. When a family is ready to hire the same contractor again before the current project is even fully settled into — that's a strong endorsement.
