Not every kitchen remodel requires knocking down walls. Sometimes the best solution is the one that preserves what's working, rethinks what isn't, and finds the most efficient path to a beautiful, functional result. That's exactly the philosophy Bull Run Kitchen & Bath brought to the O'Neill kitchen renovation in Manassas, Virginia — and the homeowners couldn't be happier that they listened. What emerged was a thoughtfully redesigned kitchen featuring US-made cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a refined layout that the client now loves so much, she's decided she never wants to leave the house.

This Manassas kitchen remodeling project began with an initial consultation between Bull Run Kitchen & Bath designer Hakan and the O'Neills. From that initial conversation, a timeline was set: Hakan had just three days to prepare a full 3D design proposal. He delivered. By the time the families met in person at the showroom — and then again at the home — a detailed vision was already on the table. The O'Neills initially wanted to knock down a wall to open up the kitchen space. After a careful evaluation of the layout, structural considerations, and budget implications, Hakan recommended a different approach. By keeping the wall in place and redesigning the layout creatively around it, the kitchen achieved greater functionality without the added cost and complexity of structural demolition.
"That wall is staying, and they have more functionality — and it is worth it," Hakan explained. The result: a kitchen that works better than the homeowners imagined, at a price point that made smart financial sense.
Design & Materials:
- US-made cabinetry with lifetime warranty — a commitment to durability that distinguishes Bull Run Kitchen & Bath from contractors who use lower-grade imported products
- Quartz countertops — chosen for their beauty, resilience, and ease of maintenance
- Backsplash tiles that complement the cabinetry and countertop selections, creating a cohesive, harmonious look throughout the space
- Existing flooring preserved and retained — a cost-saving decision that worked perfectly with the new design
The design also incorporated a new peninsula that became a favorite feature of the finished kitchen. The clients now use it regularly and are proud to show it off to guests. The overall aesthetic is clean, classic, and timeless — a kitchen designed to age gracefully and function beautifully for decades to come.

The O'Neill family expressed their satisfaction in a particularly heartwarming way. Mrs. O'Neill, who had been neutral about the house before the renovation, found herself so in love with the new kitchen that it changed her perspective on the home entirely.
"She says, 'I look at all the other places we look at, and I really like this kitchen. I like my sun room. I just like this house,'" her husband shared. "This was the thing — she's now happy."
The couple, who had been considering downsizing, found that the kitchen renovation gave them a new reason to stay. Their daughter, who may eventually inherit the house, has already said she loves the kitchen too. As a personal gesture of appreciation, Mrs. O'Neill baked treats for the Bull Run team — a small but meaningful expression of how much the project meant to her. That kind of connection between client and contractor is what Bull Run Kitchen & Bath strives for on every job.
