Angelique and Ross had a perfectly functional reason to stay in their Centreville, Virginia home: they loved the neighborhood, loved the community, and saw no reason to move. But the house, built in 1988, was showing its age — especially the kitchen and bathrooms. Rather than sell and start over, they chose to renovate, engaging Bull Run Kitchen & Bath for a comprehensive project that covered the kitchen, the master bathroom, and the hall bath. The result transformed their home from dated to genuinely exceptional.

The Centreville kitchen remodel began with a clear vision: more organization, more functionality, and a modern open feel without sacrificing warmth. Angelique and Ross both love to cook — separately and together — so the kitchen needed to work for two people simultaneously. They also wanted specific organizational features: a dedicated coffee station, a wine bar, a well-designed spice drawer, and a proper knife storage solution. After reaching out to several suppliers, they chose Bull Run Kitchen & Bath based on the quality of their design ideas, the creativity of their approach to space, and the ease of working with their team. Designer Matt became their guide through the entire process.
Design & Materials:
The centerpiece of the Centreville kitchen remodel is a large island that gives both Angelique and Ross room to work without getting in each other's way. Around it, the kitchen features a dedicated coffee station, a wine bar, strategic placement of appliances for maximum workflow efficiency, and a trash can positioned next to the sink for seamless cleanup. The spice drawer — organized to display every spice at a glance — is Ross's favorite feature and the first thing he shows every guest who visits. A custom knife drawer keeps blades safely organized and immediately accessible during meal prep. The couple also upgraded to a larger range and added a speed oven, which has opened up new possibilities in the kitchen. The big pantry provides structured food storage, and the overall flow of the kitchen — moving around the island, reaching appliances, cleaning up — has been completely transformed. Angelique and Ross went from bumping into each other constantly to cooking ambitious meals side by side with ease. For the master bathroom, the approach was equally thoughtful. A large, impractical bathtub that was rarely used and difficult to enter was removed. In its place, an open, spa-like layout now features a spacious shower area with a skylight that floods the room with natural light. A custom vanity includes a built-in hair dryer drawer — one of Angelique's favorite organizational touches — along with a separate enclosed toilet area and generous movement space throughout.
The Transformation Process:
The full renovation — kitchen, master bath, and hall bath — took approximately three months. Crew members Edwin and Oscar were on-site daily, cleaning up after themselves each evening and consistently consulting the homeowners before making decisions. Designer and project manager Matt made regular visits throughout the process, reassuring Angelique and Ross that small refinements along the way were a normal and healthy part of renovation. The attention to detail was evident from day one: Bull Run's crew took careful measures to protect the rest of the home from dust and debris throughout the project, which made living in the house during construction significantly more manageable.
