KITCHEN Project — 01
A Fresh Two-Tone Island Kitchen in Catharpin, VA
Bathroom Remodeling
- LOCATION
- Northern Virginia
- TIMELINE
- 4–5 weeks
When Eric and his family welcomed a new child, it became clear that their Catharpin, Virginia kitchen was no longer working for them. Space was limited, storage was insufficient, and the layout was not set up to handle the demands of a growing household. What started as a conversation about adding dining room wall cabinets evolved into something much more: a complete two-tone island kitchen remodel that transformed the entire space. Working with designer Hakan and the full Bull Run Kitchen & Bath crew, the family ended up with a kitchen that is not just better-looking — it is genuinely more functional for everything their life requires.

The Catharpin kitchen remodeling project was driven by practical necessity and expanded by creative opportunity. The original plan was modest — some wall cabinets in the dining area. But once Eric connected with designer Hakan at Bull Run Kitchen & Bath, the possibilities came into focus. The kitchen was small, storage was at a premium, and the layout made everyday tasks more complicated than they needed to be. A new island would change all of that. "It was just too good to pass up," Eric said of the decision to expand the scope of the project. By the time the remodel was complete, the Catharpin kitchen had a brand-new island, significantly expanded storage, and a layout configured to support a family with a young child.

Design & Materials:
Designer Hakan brought ideas to the table that the family had not considered, and the collaborative design process allowed them to shape those ideas into something that fit their specific needs. A structural beam discovered during construction required an adjustment to the plan, but once all parties were aligned on the updated design, the project moved smoothly. The crew — including Sam, Juan, and Rosario — worked through the project with professionalism and precision. The kitchen remodeling process at Bull Run Kitchen & Bath emphasizes materials that hold up over time. Cabinet configurations are designed for maximum usability, not just visual appeal. Storage is engineered for real kitchen workflows — the things that matter when you have a young child and the demands of daily family life to manage.

The Transformation Process:
This kind of candid, collaborative approach is part of what makes working with Bull Run Kitchen & Bath different. When issues arise — and in kitchen remodeling, they sometimes do — the team addresses them directly, communicates openly, and works through solutions rather than glossing over problems. The Catharpin project is a good example of that process in action: a few early adjustments, followed by smooth execution and a result the family genuinely loves.
