When you have worked with a contractor on one major project and the experience is exceptional, the decision about who to hire for the next one is already made. Renee Ventrice of Broadlands, Virginia hired Bull Run Kitchen & Bath several years ago to take her master bathroom down to the studs and completely remodel it. The experience — the communication, the quality, the care — was so positive that when the time came to tackle a kitchen that had been dated and dark since the family bought the home in 2005, there was no question who would get the call. The two-tone marble kitchen that resulted is a showcase of what truly thoughtful kitchen remodeling looks like.

The Broadlands kitchen remodeling project was born from the recognition that a space purchased in 2005 — and updated only in small, incremental ways since — needed a complete reimagining. The kitchen was dark and dated, and the family wanted something brighter, more modern, and more aligned with how they actually live and cook. Renee worked with Saana and Hakan at Bull Run Kitchen & Bath, the same team that had delivered on the master bathroom renovation. She specifically requested the same team for the kitchen remodeling project — a request that speaks to the trust that had been built through that earlier experience. Grover served as the on-site craftsman and was described as an absolute joy to work with, paying close attention to detail and bringing execution quality that elevated the design beyond even what the homeowners had imagined.

Design & Materials:

This Broadlands kitchen remodeling project is defined by its materials — specifically, the two-tone marble that runs continuously from the countertops up the walls and throughout the kitchen surfaces. The effect is seamless, sophisticated, and striking. Achieving that seamless look required meticulous attention to seam matching — a technical detail that the Bull Run Kitchen & Bath team handled with exceptional care.

"Another detail that they paid a lot of attention to was matching up the seam — so that you can barely tell that there are multiple slabs all the way down the walls and all the way around. They took really good care to make it match, and it just creates a seamless, beautiful look in the kitchen."

Hakan's extensive network of supplier relationships made material sourcing straightforward and efficient. From flooring to countertops, from the sink to cabinetry, Hakan had contacts across the supply chain that allowed Renee to access wonderful pricing and exceptional options without having to manage the sourcing process herself. As Renee noted, "it was a one-stop shop" — a phrase that captures exactly the experience Bull Run Kitchen & Bath aims to deliver on every kitchen remodeling project. The cabinetry throughout is soft-close on all drawers and doors — a detail that contributes to the kitchen's refined, modern feel. The pantry was redesigned as a pull-out pantry, replacing the corner cabinet configuration that is standard in builder-grade kitchens and adding significantly more usable storage. The pot filler mounted above the stove eliminates the cumbersome task of carrying large pots of water from the sink — a practical upgrade that reflects how much thought went into designing for actual cooking use. The sink is equipped with a touchless on/off feature and multiple organizational configurations, allowing the family to dry dishes on the sink surface or clear it completely when entertaining. Hidden outlets and light switches without exposed screws contribute to the kitchen's clean visual lines, while additional USB outlets added throughout ensure the kitchen is ready for modern family life. Every convenience was considered; none were overlooked.

The Transformation Process:

The Bull Run Kitchen & Bath team treated every detail of this Broadlands kitchen remodeling project as worthy of their full attention. Grover, in particular, brought a craftsman's eye to the work — not just executing the design but elevating it, catching opportunities to add details that were better than what had originally been planned. That level of proactive quality is rare and invaluable. From the beginning, Saana and Hakan's communication style had earned Renee's trust during the master bathroom project. That same quality of communication carried into the kitchen remodeling process. Decisions were clear, progress was tracked, and the homeowners always felt informed and confident that the project was in good hands.
